General Rookmangud Katawal is a previous Nepalese Army General, who served as the Chief of Army Staff of the Nepal Army from September 10, 2006 to August, 2009. General Katawal had come into debate after the then Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Prachanda) had singularly chosen to “assuage” Katawal of his obligations on May 3, 2009,

General Rookmangud Katawal was conceived in Okhaldhunga District, in the bumpy Eastern Region of Nepal, on December 12, 1948 to Mr and Mrs. Khadgadhoj Katawal. Subsequent to “awing” the then King Mahendra by discussing a ballad of the National Poet Madhav Prasad Ghimire amid the ruler’s legitimate visit toward the Eastern Development Region, Katawal was then by and by conveyed to Kathmandu at 8 years old years and took care of under King Mahendra’s heading.
