5 injured as police, protesters clash outside PM's residence

Police on Thursday intervened in a protest program staged by the victims of decade-long armed conflict in front of the prime minister's official residence in Baluwatar and took some victims and rights activists into custody for some hours. Victims with the banner of Conflict Victims Common Platform gathered in front of PM's official residence on Thursday to mark the International Day for the Right to the Truth which is organized on March 24. “Five including I were taken to the Kamalpokhari-based Metropolitan Police Circle,” he told THT Online over phone, “We were released after one and half hours.” The activist informed that those displaced by the armed conflict, members of the families whose members had disappeared during the conflict and former Maoist combatants lebelled ‘disqualified’ among others had gathered in front of the PM’s residence.
