Prime Minister Oli leaves for China visit today
10:05 PMPrime Minister KP Sharma Oli is paying an official visit to the People’s Republic of China from 20-27 March at the invitation of premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China Li Keqiang.
According to a press statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the PM will be accompanied by his spouse Radhika Shakya, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Kamal Thapa, Minister of Finance Bishnu Prasad Paudel, Minister of Commerce Deepak Bohara, Minister of Education Giriraj Mani Pokharel, Chief Adviser to the Prime Minister Bishnu Prasad Rimal, Members of Parliament, chief secretary, secretaries and senior government officials as well as representatives of the business community and media.
The PM will pay a courtesy call on President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping during his visit.
On March 21, the PM will attend a welcome ceremony at the Great Hall of the People and hold bilateral official talks with his Chinese counterpart, Li Keqiang , and discuss matters of mutual interest and common concerns.
Following official talks, the two leaders will witness the signing ceremony of bilateral agreements and Memorandum of Understandings to be concluded between Nepal and China.
A luncheon will be hosted by the Chinese Premier in honour of the Prime Minister of Nepal and his delegation. The Prime Minister will also meet Yu Zhengsheng, chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.
PM Oli is scheduled to address scholars, academics, business people and students at Renmin University on the theme of ‘Nepal-China Relations in the context of Belt and Road Initiatives’. He will also witness the signing ceremony of MOU on granting Nepal the status of Dialogue Partner of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, according to MoFA statement. He will address Chinese and Nepalese business community at the China Council for Promotion of International Trade.
