An unidentified gang attacked two school girls with acid at a tuition center in Basantapur, Kathmandu on Sunday.

The victims identified as Sangita Magar and Sima Basnet were studying at a tution center in Jhochhen when four masked men barged into the room and splashed acid on them.Magar, a permanent resident of Khaniyapani in Ramechhap district, is said to be in critical condition while Basnet’s condition is stable. Both are students of Shanti Nikunja School at Maruhiti in the Capital and were preparing for the SLC examinations.Magar is undergoing treatment at KMC Hospital while Basnet is admitted to Bir Hospital.Magar’s father said the perpetrators broke into the tution center’s room and attacked the girls. “Three other girls and my daughter were studying on their own after their teacher was late to arrive in the class. The attackers entered by breaking the door and threw acid at them,” Magar’s father told eKantipur.Magar’s family members were also irked by the delay in the treatment of their daughter in KMC Hospital. She didn’t not receive proper treatment even five hours after the attack, they said. apanese State Minister for Foreign Affairs Nobuo Kishi on Wednesday informed Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal about steps that have been taken to finance the Nagdhunga-Naubise Tunnel Road Project, according to PM Dahal’s personal website.

Kishi said that works have started to issue Rs18 billion loan following PM Dahal’s request for Japanese aid to build the 2.5-km tunnel on a key highway serving Kathmandu.
The tunnel road planned to be dug under the western rim of Kathmandu Valley will eliminate the need to travel over the tortuous mountain route which is now the main access to the Capital.
Japanese State Minister Kishi is currently visiting Nepal to participate in celebrations marking the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The Japan International Cooperation Agency (Jica) has conducted a feasibility study of the proposed project and identified it as being feasible, said a Jica official.

Advocate Aryal had filed the writ against Karki stating that the appointment was against the Constitution of Nepal.

First responders arrived on the scene and rushed Moraes to the hospital but the head trauma proved too great, and he died soon afterward. Things could have been a lot worse, though. Moraes originally planned to jump with his 6-year-old son, but decided at the last minute that he would do it solo. Sadly however, the poor boy witnessed his father’s tragic death. Moraes’ horrified wife, brother, and his brother’s girlfriend also watched the fatal bungee jump. Moraes hired a team of extreme sports specialists to help him do the jump. Minister for Surya Man Gurung inaugurated the system amid a function on Sunday. The new digital service–installed with the Swiss government support–is expected to ease the process to obtain the labour permit from the Department of Foreign Employment, ridding unnecessary hassles for the aspiring Nepalis going for foreign employment.

The department has created an online platform, Foreign Employment Information Management System (FEIMS) where manpower companies should open their personal online accounts through which they have to inform the department. After assessing details of prospective Nepali migrant workers, the department grants the work permit. According to the DoFE, the workers can obtain a final work permit a week from the day a pre-work permit is issued online.

The proposed 800-metre underpass between Khasibazaar and Bafal Chowk is expected to complete in two years. The four-lane underpass, which is part of the Kathmandu Ring Road Improvement Project, will significantly ease traffic congestion at Kalanki Chowk, according to Ramesh Kumar Disti, the KRRIP engineer.A tunnel for the underpass is being dug at present. More than two dozen Chinese workers have been mobilised for the job.
